2017 Masik Kala Ashtami

Kala Ashtami is related to Shiva’s avatar that is Kala Bhairava. This day, Kala Bhaiva is praised by all devotees. Every day has its own importance in our hindu calendar. Kala Ashtami held on every eighth day of ‘Krishna paksha’ of the month. It is celebrated in whole north India. This day is celebrated by devotees to remove hurdles and struggles from their lives. Kala Bhairav is the sign of Kaal (death), so he save his devotees from the struggle of life and blesses them a wonderful life. A person who praises Kaal Bhairav on Kala Astami will never stuck in the destruction of time. Kala Astami is celebrated to get happiness and less misery in the life. Kala Astami is the day when one can fulfill his dream by praising Lord Kaal Bhairav. It is glitzy celebration for all devotees of Lord Shiva.

According to a legend, once lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma had a dispute in the matter of supremacy in power. When their dispute became so high, lord Shiva called convocation to resolve the problem. This meeting was attended by wise men, hermits and saints. At last assembly came to the result and Lord Shiva said both that find the end of his Shiva Linga. Lord Vishnu couldn’t see the end and accepted his defeat. But Lord Brahma became stubborn and not ready to accept that he couldn’t see the end of Anant Shiva Linga. Due to the lie of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva took the avatar of Kaal Bhairav and he cut the fifth head of lord brahma. The form of Kaal Bhairav is so destructive and it shows the face of ‘Vinash’ and ‘Pralaya’. Kaal Bhairav’s vahan is black dog. Therefore, black dogs get value on this Kala Ahtami. Kaal Bhairav is known by the name of ‘Dandadhipati’. He provides punishments to bad human being and gives blessings who feel sorry for bad deeds. It is the most horrifying form of Lord Shiva. That’s why; we celebrate Kala Ashtami as a jayanti of kaal bhairav.

Pooja Vidhi

According to the Purana, the devotees who worship Lord Kaal Bhairav get the blessings of him, Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. Vidhi of the vrat of Kala Astami is totally related to Lord Shiva. One should keep fast on this day. One should listen the Katha of Kala Astami carefully and take bath in holy rivers. One should offering fruits and madira to Lord Bhairav. Black dogs are the ‘vahan’ of Lord Bhairav so one who keeps fast, should feed them. At godhuli(mid evening), concentrate and recall the name of Kaal Bhairav. One must avoid all ‘tamsic’ things on this day and follow a satvik life for a day. One should not tell a lie on Kala Astami because Lord Bhairav punishes them who tell lies.

Benefits of Kala Astami

Kala Astami gives the blessings of happy life to its worshipers. Kala Bhairav is the god of the ‘nivaran’ of struggles. One, who pleased lord Bhairav, can get success easily in life. Kaal Bhairav saves his worshipers from the mouth of death, accidents and epidemics. One who is suffering from bad health should worship Lord Bhairav on every Kala Astami.
